The 6th Annual Sorrento Cheese Summer in Little Italy Began on the May 12, 2007, and will continue every Weekend until mid-September. Opening weekend featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a ceremony adding actor Gianni Russo to the Little Italy Wall of Fame. On Memorial Day weekend, four new honorees were added to the Wall of Fame – radio personalities Bruce Morrow and Joey Reynolds; actor / singer / comedian Joe Piscopo; and former NYC & Company CEO Cristyne L. Nicholas. Following the ceremony, the 1st Annual Bolla Wines Clam Shucking Contest took place in front of Original Vincent’s, where shuckers from four local restaurants and cafes competed for the title of “Champion Clam Shucker of Little Italy.” The winner, with 82 shucked clams in five minutes, was Juan Vargas from Vincent’s. On Memorial Day (Monday, May 28), Joe Piscopo and his Big Band performed a free concert on the Sorrento Cheese Performance Stage.

Little Italy is one of the most beautiful areas in New York City during the Christmas season.
