NOTED SOPRANO CRISTINA FONTANELLI TO PERFORM IN CONCERT IN NYC’S LITTLE ITALY ON SATURDAY, AUIGUST 16, 2008, AT 3:00 PM

The Famed soprano Cristina Fontanelli will star in concert on Saturday, August 16, at 3 PM in New York City’s historic Little Italy as part of the 2008 Summer in Little Italy weekend festival. The free, one-hour concert will be staged outdoors at the corner of Mulberry and Hester Streets in the heart of Little Italy.

Ms. Fontanelli, who has been called “elegant and vivacious -- a young Callas” by critic Mario Fratti, the Tony Award-winning playwright, is quickly becoming a well-known personality through her recordings, her appearances on American and Italian radio, TV, opera, in concerts, and through her recent acting debut on network television, where she is receiving rave reviews for her beautiful voice and versatile talent.

Her beautiful soprano voice has taken her to the White House as part of President Clinton’s holiday celebration, to Gracie Mansion at the invitation of Mayor Rudy Giuliani, to the Governor’s mansion in Princeton, N.J., to Washington, D.C. for the National Italian American Foundation, to Lincoln Center with stars from the Metropolitan Opera, to the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City for the Columbus Citizens Foundation gala honoring Franco Zeffirelli and to a special function honoring Maestro Riccardo Muti.

Her 2007 appearances included her debut at Feinstein’s at the Regency Hotel in Manhattan, of which Michael Skakun of The New York Sun wrote, she is a “vocal genius.” As well as appearances at Shea Stadium, Hollywood, CA for the San Gennaro Festival, her 4th-annual “Christmas in Italy” concert in NYC, West Virginia and Italy, and return engagements all over the country.

In 2006 she performed at the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C., sang the title role of “Madame Butterfly” with Opera of the Hamptons, shared the stage at Lorenzo’s Cabaret at the Staten Island Hilton alongside Chaz Palminteri and Dominick Chianese, and performed a 9/11 memorial concert at Rockefeller Center with the NYPD Concert Band which was televised on CNN, Fox Network, and NY Channels 5, 7 and 9.

Ms. Fontanelli has recorded for the Meadowlands Record Company label - “Cristina Fontanelli Sings Great Italian Favorites” produced by platinum record award-winning songwriter/producer Sandy Linzer.
