TALENTED SINGERS – BOTH TENORS AND SOPRANOS – WANTED FOR ANNUAL MARIO LANZA AND SOPRANOS VOCAL COMPETITIONS IN LITTLE ITALY

The 5th Annual Mario Lanza Vocal Competition for tenors and the 3rd Annual Little Italy Sopranos Vocal Competition, two of the most popular musical events of the annual SUMMER IN LITTLE ITALY weekend festivals, have been scheduled: The Little Italy Soprano Vocal Competition will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008, and the Mario Lanza Vocal Competition, will take place on Monday, September 1, 2008 (Labor Day). Both competitions will be staged at the intersection of Mulberry and Hester Streets from 3 to 5 PM.

Up to 15 singers will compete in each competition. A panel of judges will select the winner and a first runner-up. Both finalists in each competition will be asked to sing their favorite operatic arias at the end after their selection. The winner of each competition will receive $750 and the runner-up $250

If you are interested in being considered for either competition please fill out the attached entry form and return it to the competition organizers no later than July 21, 2008 for the Little Italy Soprano competition and no later than August 25, 2008 for the Mario Lanza competition. Singers must be at least 18 years old. Slots will be filled on a first come first served basis so we advise early submission of material.

Each submission must be accompanied by a professional resume, a current photo and CD or music clip. The entry forms and accompanying materials must be mailed or delivered to:
